THE SCHOOL OF TOMORROW

Using my knowledge and experience, I think school in 2155 might be similar to the school we attend nowadays. Unluckily, the school system has always been stuck in the same structure for many years: there are teachers in a continuous state of lesson preparation and test correction as well as  students who use books and exercise books and  always have to study lots of subjects. There are a lot of teachers who are trying to “improve” their lessons, using new technologies such as computers and the Internet, but there are still teachers who just prefer to use textbooks for their lessons.

I would like to see a new school over the next years, a school where the lessons are improved using any sort of technology, a school where the students are happier and more motivated, but also a school where all the teachers feel contented and inspired  to do their job, and I think it would help them to do it better. I would also like to see a school which manages to prepare all the students for what they want to do next in life, from languages to even cooking.
I don’t really think in the future school will be like the kind of school Asimov described in one of his sci-fi books, because the human interaction between students and teachers is very important, since sometimes teachers have to understand their students’ problems and difficulties, evidently I don’t think a robot could manage to do it!
Another problem with the school foreseen by Asimov is that students won’t have the opportunity to interact with one another, because there will be only home lessons, there won’t be a building where students will be able to stay together in the classrooms, the gym or  the courtyard.
Therefore, I would like to see a new school, an upgraded sort of school, where human relationships are still significant, without too many robots or electronic equipment and machine tools.
